To appreciate what this secret has done for me, you should know a bit about my history.

I was graduated from the University of Texas School of Law in 1995, but I didn't want to be an attorney. Instead, at the end of 1994 I started a computer company called CompuFlash out of the apartment I shared with my law-school roomate. Three months later, I bought out his share and was running the company on my own. It was successful and I loved the business, but by 2001 I was burned out. You see, retail is a tough living. The long hours, standing on your feet, we had nine break-ins at our store - I would have to get up at two in the morning, drive to the store, show the police my identification, and hang out until the glass companies opened up so they could repair the store. We had theft, from customers and employees. There was the stress of turning over inventory which rapidly devalued. There was the stress of running my own business - we once switched accounting programs and it almost killed us. I was working 100 hours a week. We tried to sell the company, but the landlord wouldn't let us assign the lease. Enough was enough.

I then worked as a software consultant (self-tought on the software side) for a year and developed a software product for nine months after that. Unfortunately, the software product didn't sell enough to pay for the needs of my growing family, so in 2003 my wife said I needed to do something that would bring in an income. Yes, she's tough. She expected food on the table and a roof over our heads.

Fortunately, we had done very well with the computer company and had not had to dip into our savings when I was doing the software consulting.

Unfortunately, I was used to running a million dollar company, had tons of business experience, and didn't know who would want to hire me. You see, most employers are afraid to hire entrepreneurs because they worry they will start a competing business or will not listen to orders. In addition, I expected a decent salary because I had earned so well on my own.

So in 2003 I faced a decision - start a new business, get a job, or do the one thing I promised myself I would never do - practice law.

At first, I went to the career center at UT's law school, and they told me to get a job with another lawyer - that starting up my own practice was insane.

Well, guess how many law firms or large businesses want to hire a lawyer who graduated eight years earlier and never practiced a day in their life and wasn't up-to-date on the law. If you guessed zero, you would be right!

So, in September 2003 I started my law practice.

It was very tough going at first - and I spent a lot of my savings learning the ropes about the law. I also spent thousands of dollars to learn about legal advertising. I must have spent at least five thousand dollars for training and many thousands more experimenting.

Today, my practice great and I work less than 40 hours a week and earn enough to cover my family of four, rent in a class A building, nice office furniture, etc. More importantly, my practice continues to grow every year with more clients, better cases, and happier results for me and my clients.
